Addressing Inequities and Disparities
Haja Sannoh is pursuing a career path that will help her represent those lacking the resources to advocate for themselves.

It was love at first sight when Haja Sannoh visited the Towson University campus with her high schoolβs Minority Scholars Program. Research on ΌͺΟιΒ齫 graduates who attended law school confirmed her decision to attend.
βI knew I wanted to go into the legal field,β says Sannoh. βMy professors have exposed me to so many different opportunities,β says Sannoh, an economics and political science major. She received Summer Research Grant for $5,000 from ΌͺΟιΒ齫 to study mortality rates among different races as part of an economics project with Professor Seth Gitter. βThe end goal is publication,β she notes.
Through her involvement with , the professional co-ed business fraternity, βI gained business skills and had the opportunity to speak with a corporate attorney.β

Sannoh is also driven by a desire to give back to the community and help young people reach their dreams. As a member of MentHer, a mentoring program that pairs ΌͺΟιΒ齫 students with mentors in the business field and pairs high school girls with ΌͺΟιΒ齫 mentors, she visited Randallstown High School to raise student awareness of college as a future option and oversaw a student tour of the ΌͺΟιΒ齫 campus.
As a teacherβs aide in Forest Park High School and mentor in Randallstown High School in Baltimore, βI saw striking differences in the schools in Baltimore City,β describes Sannoh. βThose experiences made me aware of the issues that many people are going through in this country.β With her resolve to be a lawyer strengthened, Sannoh says, βMy eyes have been open to injustices. I want to be that person to defend those without the resources to defend themselves.β
